Col. Joshua M. Gaspard hails from Texas and was commissioned as an infantry officer from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2002. As a proud Sky Soldier, he jumped into Iraq in 2003 as part of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, marking the beginning of his career. He is especially proud to return to the unit he first served with as the brigade commander.
Over the course of his career, Josh has held various leadership and staff positions across numerous assignments, including with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team / 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 1st Brigade Combat Team / 82nd Airborne Division, Alaskan Command (US Northern Command), 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) / 25th Infantry Division, and the 25th Infantry Division.
In addition to his leadership roles, Josh is a graduate of Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, where he honed his expertise in technical and strategic problem-solving. His academic background led him to serve as an instructor at the United States Military Academy, where he taught in the Department of Systems Engineering. His academic pursuits also include graduating from the prestigious US Army War College, where he completed his studies as a Hoover Institution National Security Affairs Fellow at Stanford University.
Josh’s personal life is equally fulfilling. He is married to Andrea Gaspard, a West Point 2003 graduate and former Sky Soldier. Together, they have four children: Penelope (16), Joshua (16), GiGi (14), and Hudson (9), and continue to balance their demanding careers with a thriving family life.
