Command Sgt. Maj. Trevor O. Petsch was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. He joined the Army in April 2006 and completed One Station Unit Training as an infantryman at Fort Benning, Ga.
Petsch held numerous positions within the organization or leader development programs to include rifleman, team leader, squad leader, scout squad leader, Ranger instructor/writer, platoon sergeant, Legion and Hostile Company first sergeant, and operations sergeant.
Petsch's previous assignments include 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment; 6th Ranger Training Battalion; 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment; and the NCO Center of Excellence. He deployed three times to Afghanistan with 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry in support of Operation Enduring Freedom VIII, X and XIII.
Petsch’s military education includes Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Master Leader Course, First Sergeants Course, Sergeants Major Academy, Ranger School, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, Pathfinder Course, Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leader Course, Air Assault School, Army Basic Instructor Course, Common Faculty Development Instructor Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Master Driver’s Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, and Tactical Certification Course. His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Arts from Excelsior University and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University.
Petsch’s awards and decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal (sixth award), Overseas Ribbon (seventh award), and Afghanistan Campaign Medal (third award).
Petsch is married to Marta for the last 15 years, and they have two children, a daughter, Emma, 12, and a son, Luca, 9.
