54th Brigade Engineer Battalion

Lt. Col. Travis N. Toole is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio.  Toole was commissioned in the United States Army Corps of Engineers on June 25, 2005, from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science/Pre Law.  He holds a Master’s of Professional Studies (MPS) from George Washington University, a Master’s of Public Administration (MPA) from Webster University, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Toole started his Army career at Fort Wainwright, Alaska where he served as a Platoon Leader and Executive Officer in the 562nd Engineer Company, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team.  The unit reflagged as 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, and Toole served as the Battalion Operations Officer for the Brigade Troops Battalion.  After his time in Alaska, Toole served as the Company Commander for the 34th Engineer Company, 65th Engineer Battalion at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.   Toole was selected as a 2014 Army Congressional Fellow.   Toole served as a Military Legislative Assistant (MLA) to Congressman Sam Farr in the House of

Representatives.  Subsequently, Toole served as an Army Congressional Budget Liaison to the House and Senate Military Construction Appropriations Committees while serving in the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management and Comptroller (ASA (FM&C)).

From 2017 – 2020, Toole served in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.  After serving on Division Staff as the G35, Toole became the Operations Officer for the 37th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division.   Toole then served as the Brigade Executive Officer for the Falcon Brigade.  After completing his key developmental time at Fort Liberty, Toole served as the Aide de Camp to the Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Washington DC.  Following his tour in Washington DC, Toole was assigned to the U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM) Logistics Directorate (J4) as an Engineer Operations Officer in Stuttgart, Germany.

 Toole’s operational deployments include three combat deployments to Iraq (2006, 2008, and 2011).  His decorations include the Combat Action Badge, Ranger and Sapper Tabs, Senior Parachutist Badge, and the Pathfinder Badge.

 Toole is the proud father of Nathaniel (3) and Claire (2), and is married to Krysta Toole of Overland Park, Kansas.
