U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, 11th Airborne Division, and multinational airborne forces execute a commemorative airborne operation onto Iron Mike Drop Zone near Sainte-Mère-Église, Normandy, France, June 7, 2024. The jump marked the 80th anniversary of D-Day, honoring the courage, legacy, and sacrifice of Allied paratroopers who spearheaded the liberation of Europe during World War II.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward stationed in Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build readiness and strengthen the alliance.
